Featured Organization

Images Cinema screens first-run films 362 nights a year, hosts filmmakers and collaborates with area organizations on a wide variety of events, ranging from the annual French film series, the Williams College Queer Film Festival, the Williamstown Film Festival, film series that explore issues of environment, politics, people with disabilities, and women in the arts. We engage children and families with the monthly Kids First! Film Club and the Family Flicks Under the Stars series in the summer. We also promote film production with programs like the annual 24-Hour Video Goosechase and the youth-organized Student Independent Film Festival.

In November 2008, the cinema underwent a renovation and we regained our original front entrance, exposing the original tin ceilings and hand-laid tile floors in the lobby. The renovation also included a new concessions stand, box office and restroom, new seats and upgraded sound. The project was funded entirely by individual contributions, as is most of the cinema's work. Over 500 members contribute annually and over 50 volunteers serve on the board, staff the concessions, clean the cinema, wash the blankets (on hand for patrons who get chilly), clean and return bottles, help with administrative work and more.

Images Cinema, a single-screen cinema, was founded in 1916 and became a non-profit organization in 1998. The cinema is located in Williamstown, MA in the northeast corner of Berkshire County, population 8,100.

Upcoming events include: Critical Visions: New Film from Francophone Africa; Sustainability Documentary and Discussion Series; TOE TACTIC with director Emily Hubley, and a program of Hubley Studio animation; SPROUT disability film festival, Womanimation Film Festival.
