IFP and NAMAC, representing filmmakers and filmmaker organizations nationwide, welcomed the Orphan Works legislation introduced in Congress on April 24, 2008. The legislation will allow filmmakers and other creators to use “orphan works” that have been languishing because the copyright owner no longer exists or cannot be found.
