BAVC Names Carol Varney as Executive Director

September 28, 2012, from BAVC -- The Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) announces the promotion of Carol Varney to the position of Executive Director. In her five years at BAVC, Varney has worked as Director of Development, Interim Executive Director and most recently, Managing Director. "We are very pleased to announce this appointment," reported BAVC Board President Dr. Bathsheba Malsheen. "Carol brings tremendous vision and creativity to BAVC's programs and a deep commitment to its mission. She has held leadership roles in programming and fundraising for the last five years, providing her with the breadth of perspective and experience to lead BAVC."

As Managing Director, Varney oversaw all program areas including BAVC's Producers Institute for New Media Technologies and the MediaMaker Fellow Awards. On her new position, Varney said, "I am extremely grateful to BAVC's Board of Directors for this opportunity. I've always felt privileged to work for BAVC. As technology rapidly evolves, I feel passionately that BAVC will continue to empower people to create engaging media and spark social change. I am indebted to former Executive Director Marc Vogl for his service and am eager to build on the successes of his tenure."
