The Women’s Media Center works to make women powerful and visible in media. The Women’s Media Center promotes women and girls as subjects and decision-makers, conducts media monitoring, training and leadership development, and creates original content.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Women’s Media Center (WMC) seeks a development assistant to assist the President and Director of Development with all fundraising activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drafting grant reports
  • Prospect research
  • Online appeals and donor communications
  • Quarterly online newsletter
  • Managing donor database.
  • Some operations/office management duties
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong writing skills.
  • Reliable, conscientious, team player.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Web knowledge and savvy.
  • Commitment to team work.
  • Familiarity with word processing, database programs, Internet research (Lexis Nexis, Cision, Meltwater), and spreadsheet programs a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.

SUPERVISION

The Development Assistant reports to the President of the Women’s Media Center

and the Director of Development and will work in the Women’s Media Center’s New York City office.

COMPENSATION

This an entry level position. Salary based on experience. Benefits include vacation and health insurance. The Women’s Media Center offers a creative and inclusive work environment that welcomes diversity. The Women’s Media Centercannot pay for relocation.
