Repertory Assistant
Film Forum, an internationally recognized nonprofit cinema located in lower Manhattan, seeks an efficient, self-motivated Repertory Assistant to work as part of a 3-person team in the repertory programming office. The assistant will work closely with and provide support to Bruce Goldstein, Director of Repertory Programming, in handling day-to-day operations of the repertory office. This position provides a great opportunity to wear many hats and to be part of a fast-paced, exciting arts organization.
Responsibilities include:
- assisting Director of Repertory Programming with research and planning of quarterly film calendar
- creating and distributing master chart of film specifications for each calendar
- tracking and maintaining contracts and other correspondence related to films that are programmed
- print traffic liaison for repertory office
- communicating technical needs for all repertory programs to General Manager and projection staff
- working with webmaster on repertory program sections of website
- proofreading all advertising, calendar and web copy
- production assistance for occasional evening special events
- managing office including petty cash, filing, supply inventory, mail delivery, answering phones
- other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- must have strong interest in and knowledge of film history
- hard-working, detail-oriented with solid administrative skills with at least 2 years of office experience
- strong organizational skills
- thorough research capabilities
- proofreading skills a must
- proficiency with Macs and Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- ability to work on a team in an intimate office environment
- excellent communication skills and pleasant personality
